El nuevo tráiler de la película Mortal Kombat se lanzó hoy oficialmente y revela una serie de detalles sobre los personajes de la película, incluido Jax, interpretado por Mehcad Brooks. En los videojuegos de Mortal Kombat, Jax siempre ha tenido brazos cibernéticos, y ese será el caso también en la nueva película. Sin embargo, la forma en que Jax pierde sus brazos esta vez es diferente a las kontinuities anteriores de Mortal Kombat. Esta vez, Jax tiene ambas extremidades congeladas por Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim), antes de que se rompan. En una entrevista con IGN, el director Simon McQuoid habló sobre el cambio y cómo impulsará la motivación del personaje en la película.
“En esta película necesitábamos impulsar algunos personajes y narrativas, y dado que [Jax perdió los brazos] se había hecho de un par de formas diferentes en el pasado, sentimos que teníamos un poco de licencia para hacerlo de nuevo aquí. ”, Dijo McQuoid a IGN. «Realmente hemos tratado de ser muy sinceros y fieles al canon donde podemos estar, pero de vez en cuando, podríamos desviarnos un poco de donde sentimos que estaba bien hacerlo».
El cambio tiene mucho sentido considerando la gran cantidad de formas en que Jax ha perdido sus apéndices a lo largo de los años. A veces Jax los ha perdido en KombatwithGoro, y otras veces el culpable ha sido Ermac; en la serie de cómics de Malibú, ¡las espadas de Baraka fueron las responsables! Dadas todas las posibilidades para elegir, difícilmente se puede culpar a McQuoid por agregar un nuevo enfoque a la tradición. ¡Ciertamente parece que funcionará bien para el mundo que la película está tratando de establecer!
Sub-Zero parece ser uno de los principales antagonistas de la película, por lo que posicionarlo como el personaje que le quita los brazos a Jax tiene mucho sentido. Es probable que Bi-Han sea responsable de un poco de carnicería a lo largo de la película, por lo que los espectadores pueden esperar ver un poco más del villano.
