De la mano del desarrollador Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios, famoso por Yakuza, nos llega el nuevo título de la longeva saga Monkey Ball. El nuevo título, Banana Rumble, es la vigésimo segunda entrega de la franquicia Monkey Ball, lanzada casi en la misma cantidad de años después de Banana Mania de 2021, y la primera entrega completamente nueva en una década. Así que entra en tu esfera y acompáñanos en el loco mundo de Monkey Ball.
Historia en giro de bananas legendarias
AiAi y sus compañeros viven tranquilamente hasta que oyen de Palette, una nueva amiga, la historia del Plátano Legendario, un tesoro que hace la boca agua a los queridos simios. Sin pensárselo mucho, los monos se embarcan en una nueva aventura, recorriendo diversos lugares en busca de este plátano.
Gameplay bastante mono.
La saga de Monkey Ball en sí no tiene un gameplay complicado. Para ser claro, se trata más de reflejos y habilidad. Por eso, pondré una comparación. Teniendo en cuenta que Katamari es mi punto de comparación más cercano, el cambio de mentalidad que requiere Monkey Ball es complicado: los jugadores no controlan a su mono, sino que inclinan el mundo que los rodea. Si a esto le sumamos niveles intensos de velocidad y un cronómetro, tenemos un juego que es fácil de aprender, pero extremadamente difícil de dominar.
Dado su estatus exclusivo para Switch, le recomendaría a cualquiera que se enfrente a Banana Rumble que se asegure de que sus Joy-Con no sufran problemas de drift, porque los niveles más difíciles requieren un toque suave que un joystick poco fiable no puede ofrecer. Descubrí esto usando uno de mis pares de viejos Joy-Con originales antes de cambiar a un conjunto más nuevo. Banana Rumble ofrece siete personajes jugables, todos ellos con diferentes estadísticas que afectan a su movimiento.
Desde el principio, Banana Rumble ofrece una gran variedad de modos, tanto en solitario como multijugador. La campaña estándar es la de Aventura, en la que AiAi y sus amigos viajan a una multitud de lugares exóticos que abarcan todo el mundo y que inspiran los 200 niveles que incluye. Para un subconjunto de jugadores, esta puede ser la única parte de Banana Rumble con la que se entretengan, y el diseño de niveles mantiene la diversión, incluso si los niveles posteriores en cada área pueden provocar la pérdida de cabello inducida por el estrés, algo que el juego sabe hacer bien, lol.
Los desarrolladores han dicho que tomaron en cuenta los comentarios de los jugadores de entregas anteriores de la serie para asegurarse de hacer un mejor trabajo de incorporación de nuevos jugadores. Esto parece preciso hasta cierto punto, pero Banana Rumble aún tiene mucho que ofrecer para los jugadores experimentados que, sin duda, trabajarán en la velocidad y la adquisición de plátanos en cada nivel. Al igual que los títulos más recientes de Mario, RGG Studios ha agregado una serie de funciones de ayuda para jugadores con dificultades, como puntos de control, rebobinado y una guía fantasma. Sin embargo, el uso de estas funciones deshabilitará la obtención de puntos y evitará que se completen las misiones de etapa, así como que se guarden los tiempos completos. Estas funciones son realmente un salvavidas para los jugadores más jóvenes. Las funciones de ayuda se pueden habilitar manualmente en el menú de pausa, o al fallar un nivel tres veces, se mostrará una pantalla que preguntará al jugador si desea activarlas. Banana Rumble también agrega un nuevo movimiento, el Spin Dash, un impulso rápido que permite a los jugadores ejecutar saltos a través de rampas y pequeños espacios, algo que extrañaría si volviera a las entregas anteriores, ya que está tan entretejido en muchos de los nuevos niveles.
Si bien no es necesario jugar en línea para aprovechar al máximo Banana Rumble, es la mejor manera de enfrentar la locura que son los modos de batalla de 16 jugadores. Estos se pueden jugar en solitario con hasta 15 jugadores de la CPU o en configuraciones cooperativas de sofá de 2 a 4 jugadores, pero con muchos menos jugadores de la CPU disponibles. Los cinco modos en oferta: Race, Banana Hunt, Ba-BOOM!, Goal Rush y Robot Smash, brindan mucha variedad con entre dos y cinco cursos disponibles para cada uno en el momento del lanzamiento. Goal Rush y Ba-BOOM! en particular se destacan como grandes giros en la mecánica de Monkey Ball. El primero pone a los jugadores en equipos lanzándose a través de conjuntos de postes de portería que valen varios puntos, y cada gol capturado otorga puntos de bonificación al final del partido. Ba-BOOM!, por su parte, es un juego furioso de mantener la distancia, donde los jugadores intentan evitar o colocar una bomba a otros jugadores antes de que se acabe el tiempo. Si bien el rendimiento de Banana Rumble es generalmente sólido, es en los modos con un alto número de jugadores donde la desaceleración es más evidente. Sin tantos jugadores, ya sean de la CPU u otros, muchos de los modos pueden parecer poco poblados y poco impresionantes. Dicho esto, creo que la mayoría de los jugadores encontrarán un punto óptimo para la cantidad de jugadores de la CPU que les gustaría tener en cada modo; el modo Carrera sigue funcionando bien con números más bajos, pero los modos de equipo prosperan especialmente con el caos de una cantidad absurda de monos rodando por todos lados.
Apartado técnico
El título, al momento de este análisis, no presenta ningún problema en su modo solitario o aventura, pero en su modo multijugador es donde se notan algunos pequeños bajones de FPS. Dado que el juego cuenta con un multijugador de más de 10 personas en un mismo mapa, esto provoca una disminución en los FPS o una ligera ralentización por falta de recursos. Esto ocurre tanto en modo portátil como en modo dock. Aparte de eso, el título funciona bien sin ningún otro problema.
Apartado Artístico y Banda Sonora
Al igual que en sus muchas entregas anteriores, el arte de este título es suave y sencillo, pero lleno de colores y diseños curiosos. Sin embargo, estos detalles a menudo pasan desapercibidos debido al alto nivel de velocidad y movimiento que tenemos en el juego. A pesar de esto, lo que se puede apreciar está bien colocado y cumple con su función en cada mapa.
Su banda sonora cumple con su cometido, proporcionando un toque alegre al ritmo de los giros de nuestros monos en cada carrera. Los efectos de sonido y el entorno son sencillos, pero cumplen su papel al hacer el juego más vivo y divertido.
Conclusión.
En general, Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble es un paquete bastante completo que debería mantener contentos a los fanáticos de la serie y, al mismo tiempo, atraer a nuevos jugadores con más éxito que las entregas anteriores, gracias a la incorporación de funciones de ayuda. Si necesitas un juego competitivo, pero divertido, este es el título que debes probar.
