La guerra está por comenzar…
Tras 6 años desde el lanzamiento de God of War en PS4, y más tarde en PC, SIE Santa Monica Studio nos trae su esperada secuela: God of War Ragnarök, ahora disponible para PC luego de su estreno en PS5, este port del juego fue realizado en colaboración con Jetpack Interactive. Este título pretende poner fin a las aventuras nórdicas de Kratos, el icónico asesino de dioses. Considerado el proyecto más ambicioso del estudio, su mayor desafío será igualar o superar a su predecesor, que dejó una marca difícil de superar. Como es habitual en Santa Monica Studio, cada juego cuenta con un nuevo director, y en esta ocasión, Eric Williams asume el rol, habiendo trabajado en todos los títulos de la saga, bajo la supervisión de Cory Barlog. ¡Prepárate para una nueva y épica travesía!
El Ragnarök se aproxima y la historia se intensifica.
Con el Ragnarök acercándose rápidamente, Kratos, junto a su hijo Atreus y Mimir, se embarcan nuevamente en sus aventuras por las tierras nórdicas, enfrentando los peligros que les acechan. La historia comienza de manera impactante, varios años después de los eventos del juego anterior, con Freya en busca de venganza por la muerte de su hijo, persiguiendo a los protagonistas a través de una congelada Midgard. Atreus ha madurado considerablemente, mientras que Kratos sigue centrado en proteger lo más importante que le queda: su hijo.
La narrativa está sólidamente construida desde el principio, prometiendo una aventura épica. Atreus, impulsado por su creciente curiosidad, busca respuestas sobre su identidad y propósito, lo que genera conflictos con Kratos. La entrega también presenta nuevos personajes memorables como Thor, un guerrero serio que sigue las órdenes de su padre Odín, y Tyr, quien se resiste a volver a ser un dios de la guerra. Como indica el título, el Ragnarök es una profecía inevitable que todos saben que se cumplirá eventualmente.
Gameplay digno de los Dioses.
A lo largo de la aventura, nuestros protagonistas contarán con la ayuda de aliados de entregas anteriores, quienes ahora desempeñan un papel más significativo en la narrativa. Los jugadores tendrán la oportunidad de revisitar todos los reinos conocidos, pero con modificaciones que los hacen sentir renovados, además de explorar aquellos reinos que no se pudieron descubrir en la primera parte de la saga nórdica. En Midgard, podrán contar con la asistencia de lobos para moverse por las áreas heladas, y los portales místicos facilitarán el transporte entre reinos.
Desde las primeras horas de juego, la variedad de enemigos y las batallas contra jefes son destacadas. Cada reino presenta nuevos tipos de enemigos, y los enfrentamientos con los jefes son verdaderamente memorables. Aquellos que busquen un reto podrán optar por una dificultad alta, lo que ofrece una experiencia satisfactoria, aunque a veces frustrante. Los combates son dinámicos y requieren estrategia, como identificar los puntos débiles de los jefes para debilitarlos.
La jugabilidad conserva los elementos introducidos en la entrega de 2018, pero presenta mejoras. El juego se siente más ágil y nuestros héroes están armados con el hacha Leviatán, las espadas del caos y varios escudos. Además, la verticalidad de los escenarios se puede aprovechar durante los combates. Por primera vez, Atreus será un personaje jugable con su propio conjunto de movimientos. También regresan los eventos de quicktime, que son característicos de la saga.
El sistema de personalización de personajes regresa, permitiendo mejorar armas, armaduras y reliquias. Cada héroe dispone de su propio árbol de habilidades que se pueden desbloquear a medida que suben de nivel. Los recursos obtenidos durante la exploración o al completar misiones se pueden usar para mejorar el equipamiento. Además, los jugadores pueden incrementar la vitalidad y la barra de ira espartana al encontrar las piezas necesarias.
La historia principal se puede completar en aproximadamente 26 a 28 horas, pero si decides realizar todos los objetivos secundarios, el tiempo de juego puede ampliarse hasta 60 o 70 horas. El título también presenta una magnífica banda sonora orquestal que complementa de manera ideal la temática del juego.
DLC Valhalla
El DLC God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla funciona como un epílogo de los acontecimientos de God of War Ragnarök, siguiendo a Kratos en un viaje introspectivo y personal. Este contenido incluye elementos roguelite, lo que ofrece una experiencia de rejugabilidad considerable.
Apartado técnico.
Si en PS5 el juego ya se veía espectacular, en PC brilla aún más, aunque esto requiere una cantidad considerable de recursos para equilibrar su impresionante jugabilidad con un apartado gráfico excepcional. En una Legion 7 Pro con una RTX 4080, el juego alcanza su máximo esplendor sin complicaciones, y el trabajo realizado es realmente sorprendente. Aunque el juego era prácticamente perfecto, es difícil que se pueda mejorar sin encontrar errores o bugs extraños al momento de redactar esta reseña.
En cuanto a las consolas portátiles, como la Steam Deck, es posible jugar a 30 fps con configuraciones bajas, con picos de hasta 40 fps dependiendo del área y otros factores. En el caso de la Legion, se puede alcanzar desde 40 fps o un poco más, dependiendo de las configuraciones que cada jugador elija, logrando una experiencia de juego bastante satisfactoria en ambos dispositivos. A pesar de que las configuraciones sean bajas, no te dejes engañar: ¡el juego se ve espectacular! Además, no presenta fallos ni bugs que deterioren la experiencia. Por supuesto, es recomendable ajustar algunos parámetros según las preferencias individuales para optimizar la experiencia, pero en general, el juego está excelentemente optimizado para funcionar sin problemas en ambas plataformas.
Apartado Artístico y Banda sonora.
Desde el punto de vista visual, el juego es impresionante. Cada aspecto de los personajes y los variados biomas de los reinos ha sido cuidadosamente diseñado. El título presenta una diversidad de entornos, que van desde aguas termales hasta desiertos, y los rompecabezas, un elemento icónico de la saga, regresan con un estilo artístico espectacular. Cada detalle ha sido perfeccionado para aprovechar al máximo lo que la PC puede ofrecer, llevando así la experiencia visual a un nivel superior.
En cuanto a la música y los efectos de sonido, todo es excepcional. Los efectos de sonido, desde el crujido de los pasos sobre la nieve hasta los impactos de tu hacha Leviatán, resultan sumamente satisfactorios. Además, al añadir el impresionante trabajo de las voces y la banda sonora, el juego ofrece una experiencia auditiva asombrosa, con una claridad impresionante en todos sus aspectos.
Conclusión.
En resumen, God of War Ragnarök es una secuela que satisface todas las expectativas, ofreciendo una experiencia inolvidable repleta de emoción y sorpresas, así como un desarrollo de personajes excepcional. Representa un cierre digno para la saga nórdica y es imprescindible para cualquier usuario de PlayStation y PC. Sus mecánicas sobresalientes, combates intensos y una narrativa cautivadora hacen que cada minuto jugado valga la pena. No tengo palabras suficientes para recomendar este título, así que no dejes pasar la oportunidad de disfrutar de este magnífico videojuego; revivir esta aventura en PC es realmente asombroso.
